Adrenal Catecholamine Secretion in the Cat Induced by Intrarenal /?-Adrenergic Stimulation

چکیده
Isoproterenol infusion (0.1 /ig/kg per min) into the renal artery of the cat induced an increase in plasma renin concentration (PRC) from 14.3 ± 5.7 (mean ± SE) ng angiotensin I/ml per hr to 56.8 ± 7.7 after 70 minutes {P < 0.05) and an increase in catecholamine secretion rate from 38.7 ± 6.0 ng/kg per 10 min to 180.0 ± 40.0 after 70 minutes (P < 0.001). Intravenous infusion of the same dose of isoproterenol had no significant effect on adrenomedullary catecholamine secretion rate. Isoproterenol induced preferential norepinephrine release: the ratio of norepinephrine to epinephrine secretion changed from 11.5:23.7 during the control period to 130.0:40.1 70 minutes after the start of isoproterenol administration. Intrarenal infusion of propranolol (3.0 mg/kg per min) inhibited renal renin release and adrenal catecholamine secretion in response to intrarenal isoproterenol. Intravenous infusion (0.4 Mg/g P e r i) °f a n angiotensin II antagonist [Sar\ Ileu]angiotensin II abolished the catecholamine response to intrarenal isoproterenol infusion. It is suggested that intrarenal isoproterenol infusion stimulates renal renin release and angiotensin production which, in turn, stimulates a preferential secretion of adrenomedullary norepinephrine. متن کاملImpaired Sympathoadrenal Axis Function Contributes to Enhanced Insulin Secretion in Prediabetic Obese Rats
The involvement of sympathoadrenal axis activity in obesity onset was investigated using the experimental model of treating neonatal rats with monosodium L-glutamate. To access general sympathetic nervous system activity, we recorded the firing rates of sympathetic superior cervical ganglion nerves in animals. Catecholamine content and secretion from isolated adrenal medulla were measured. Intr...
متن کاملStimulation of release of adrenal catecholamine by adenosine 3':5'-cyclic monophosphate and theophylline in the absence of extracellular Ca 2+ .
Stimulation of catecholamine release was studied in the isolated adrenal of the cat during retrograde perfusion. Theophylline, adenosine 3':5'-cyclic monophosphate (cyclic AMP), and dibutyryl-cyclic AMP stimulated catecholamine release in adrenal chromaffin tissue; adenosine, 2'-AMP, 3'-AMP, and 5'-AMP were ineffective. Addition of theophylline for 5-15 min had no effect on catecholamine releas...
متن کاملThe relationship between arachidonic acid release and catecholamine secretion from cultured bovine adrenal chromaffin cells.
Increased arachidonic acid release occurred during activation of catecholamine secretion from cultured bovine adrenal medullary chromaffin cells. The nicotinic agonist 1,1-dimethyl-4- phenylpiperazinium (DMPP) caused an increased release of preincubated [3H]arachidonic acid over a time course which corresponded to the stimulation of catecholamine secretion. Like catecholamine secretion, the DMP...
متن کاملAdrenal medullary stimulation induced by angiotensin I, angiotensin II, and analogues.
A structure-activity relationship study was attempted to determine the structural specificity of the no. 8 amino acid residue of [l-asp.,5-ileu]angiotensin II for adrenal medullary stimulation. Isolated cat adrenal glands were perfused retrograde at a flow rate of 1 ml/min with phosphate-buSered Locke's solution at 23 to 25 C, Continuous catecholamine analysis was performed using an automated t...
